Therapy that Offers Balance and Healing

At Elements Counseling, I provide a whole-person, humanistic approach to counseling in order to help you explore how you exist in your body, in your emotions, in your beliefs, and how you exist with connecting to something greater than yourself. The Four Elements of western culture include Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. These elements exist around us and within us. Together we’ll work on connecting with these elements to heal parts of yourself as you exist in this world.

Types of Counseling Sessions

  • Individual therapy sessions: I offer different types of psychotherapy geared toward individual healing.  When we work on ourself it is amazing how it branches out to other relationships, too. Not having an agenda works too, and maybe you just want to show up and connect, and trust the process of what happens when we work together.
  • Parenting Coaching sessions: Whether you need parenting skills with your difficult child, or child on the autism spectrum, or skills in general for how to navigate the parent-child relationship or difficult times, I can help.
  • In-person sessions: Available for those that are able, we meet at my cozy office in Fort Collins, which is conveniently located near the CSU vet school.  A ramp is available for getting into the building.
  • Online sessions: Telehealth counseling or coaching is available for individuals anywhere located in Colorado!
  • In-home sessions: If you have transportation difficulty or simply cannot get to my office location, and prefer to meet in-person instead of meeting online, I may be able to visit you where you live for in-home therapy.  I also may be able to provide in-home parenting consultation.  Ask me about this option.

Types of Therapy

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT is a researched, evidenced-based type of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy that will help you move through your symptoms of PTSD in approximately 12 sessions. Sometimes fewer or more sessions are needed depending on the individual. By meeting together one or two times per week with this highly effective therapy, we will minimize or eliminate your flashbacks, depressive symptoms, and avoidance so that you can finally move on with your life. There is homework involved after every session so that your healing continues outside of the therapy room, and you learn to heal yourself.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

If you are bothered by a lot of emotional outbursts, struggle with relationships, or self-harm, DBT is an effective therapy to help you learn how to cope with strong emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. You will learn concrete, helpful skills to start managing life and will learn how to improve your interpersonal relationships.

Emotionally Freedom Technique (EFT) & Energy Psychology

Thoroughly researched as well, EFT is highly effective in helping to eliminate any symptoms of discomfort, including anxiety, panic, pain, and more. With EFT, we use gentle tapping on “acupoints” throughout the body with Acupressure to help heal the body system with the mind-body connection. This is a self-help tool that you learn to do yourself.

The Gottman Method

The Gottmans have spent years researching couples and how to have healthy, intimate relationships. The book “The Seven Principles of Making Marriage Work” is one of many resources and an effective communication guide for people in committed partnerships. In sessions, we work with their tools to improve your relationship in effective ways.

Expressive Art Therapy (EAT)

Sometimes we need to get to healing parts of ourselves by more than just talking. Movement, visual arts, music, and nature are modalities that we may use with this effective and powerful psychotherapy.
